Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about Task Teens? Here are answers for both clients and teens to help you understand how the platform works.
For Clients
How do I book a teen?
Simply complete the booking form with your task details, preferred time, and any preferences. Once submitted, your request is sent to matching teens. When a teen accepts, your task is confirmed.
Can I request a specific teen?
Yes. You may request a specific teen when booking. If that teen is not available, your request may be offered to other available teens.
How much does it cost?
Task Teens charges a $5 booking fee per job. Your first booking is $10, which includes a one-time background approval fee. Teens set or agree to task pricing, and tips are optional.
Why is payment required upfront?
Upfront payment secures the booking, reduces cancellations, and ensures teens are paid for their time. Payment is held until the task is completed.
What percentage of the job cost goes to the teen?
Teens receive the full task payment. Task Teens only charges a flat booking fee. Tips also go directly to the teen.
Can I cancel a booking?
Yes. Cancellations more than 2 hours before the task may receive a refund minus the booking fee. Late cancellations may not be refunded, and teens may receive partial compensation.
Can I reschedule instead of cancel?
Yes. You may reschedule with the same teen if they are available, or you may request another teen for a different time.
Are same-day bookings allowed?
Same-day bookings are available for background-approved clients. This helps maintain a safe environment for teens.
How long does the background approval take?
Background approval is typically quick and completed as part of your first booking. Once approved, you can continue booking without repeating the process.
What happens if a teen cancels?
If a teen cancels, you may choose a replacement teen, reschedule with the same teen, or receive a full refund.
Can I request the same teen again?
Yes. You can request repeat assignments with a teen you’ve worked with before.
What if I have multiple tasks that can be done in the booking time?
You may include multiple tasks within the same booking as long as they fit within the scheduled time. Clients often combine tasks such as organizing, light yard work, or event preparation.
Can I book a job for less than 1 hour?
Yes. Shorter tasks are allowed. However, booking times should reasonably account for arrival, instructions, and completion. Many clients choose one-hour bookings to allow enough time for flexibility.
Is Task Teens safe?
Task Teens is designed with safety in mind. Clients are background approved, teens are guardian-approved, and tasks are matched based on availability and preferences.
For Teens
How do I join Task Teens?
Complete the teen application. A parent or guardian must approve your participation before you can accept tasks.
How do I get tasks?
Tasks are sent to teens who match availability and preferences. You may accept tasks that fit your schedule.
Do my school grades matter for participation?
Task Teens encourages teens to prioritize school and responsibilities first. While grades are not required to join, participation may be paused if school performance or responsibilities become a concern. Parents or guardians may also set expectations for participation.
How do I get paid?
Clients pay upfront. After the task is completed, payment is released. Clients may also provide optional tips.
Do I need transportation?
Teens are responsible for getting to and from tasks. This may include walking, biking, being dropped off, or driving if age-appropriate. Clients do not provide transportation. Being dropped off is strongly discouraged.
Why is being dropped off not encouraged?
Being dropped off can create scheduling challenges and safety concerns for both teens and clients. Task Teens encourages teens to accept tasks they can reliably get to and from on their own. This helps reduce cancellations, delays, and last-minute changes, and keeps scheduling more predictable for clients.
Why don’t clients provide transportation?
For safety reasons, transportation arrangements are handled by teens and their families. This helps maintain clear boundaries and keeps everyone comfortable.
How far away is a typical assignment?
Most assignments are intended to be local to your neighborhood or nearby community. Tasks are matched based on availability and location to help keep travel reasonable. Teens should only accept tasks they can comfortably and reliably travel to.
Can I cancel a task?
Teens should only accept tasks they can complete. Repeated cancellations may result in warnings or removal from the platform.
Can I reschedule a task?
Yes. If needed, you may request to reschedule with the client. If both agree, the task can be moved to another day.
Can I work with the same client again?
Yes. Clients may request you again for repeat tasks.
What if I feel unsafe?
Teens should only accept tasks they feel comfortable with. If you feel unsafe, you should leave the situation and contact Task Teens or your parent or guardian.
What if there is an emergency?
In an emergency, teens should contact their parent or guardian first, then follow appropriate emergency procedures. Task Teens may also be notified.
